Quench your Face this Fall

Do you have fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, excess oil, enlarged pores, patchy dryness, or dull skin? Does your skin feel parched, sun damaged, irritated, and congested from a summer’s worth of sun exposure, salt water, chlorine, sweat, and sunscreen? Fall is here and as the days grow shorter and the air becomes dryer, your skin has a different set of needs than those during the long humid summer days of the past. It is important to adjust your daily skin care regiment to meet the weather changes. It is also the perfect season to treat your skin to a HydraFacial (or several).

As the humidity starts to leave the air and the days get cooler, dryer, and sometime windier, your skin is at risk of becoming dry, cracked, and dull. Fine lines are also more visible when your skin is dehydrated. Since the days of your make-up and moisturizers sweating off of your skin are basically over, you can take advantage of being able to use heavier moisturizers and facial oils. Hydration and moisturizing is key! Plus with winter on its way, the sooner you start getting into the habit of quenching your skin, the more prepared you and your skin will be for the harsh elemental forces that winter can bring, especially the further north you live or go.

In line with keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated, hydrating facial masks are a great addition to your skincare routine. Applying a hydrating mask two or three times a week can do wonders for your skin. It is also important to keep up your water intake the same way that you do during the summer. Remember, a good rule of thumb is to divide your weight in half and that number is the number of ounces of water that you should drink every day. When it’s cooler outside, it’s more common to forget to drink as much water as when we are in a hot environment. When our bodies are dehydrated though, it shows on the surface of our skin.

While HydraFacials are obviously good all year long, the transition from summer to fall is an excellent time to treat yourself to one. It is a good way to deep clean, exfoliate, and moisturize your summer beaten skin. HydraFacials are amazing at tackling pretty much all of your skin concerns (everything mentioned in the introduction). The more of them that you get, the more visible and longer lasting the results are, but after just one you will notice a difference in your skin. At Parker Dentistry Facial Rejuvenation and Wellness, we offer our patients this incredible treatment. Ivonne customizes each treatment to your specific skin type and skin needs.

A HydraFacial(or few), a stronger moisturizer, some hydrating facial oil, a bi-weekly mask, and sufficient water intake will help keep your skin radiant and plump for all of fall! As with most health-related habits and routines, little tweaks and additions can make a significant difference. Greet fall with glowing skin!
