“When you find yourself reacting with anger or opposition to any person or circumstance, realize that you are only struggling with yourself. Putting up resistance is the response of defenses created by old hurts. When you relinquish this anger, you will be healing yourself and cooperating with the flow of the universe.” Deepak Chopra
There is a deep-rooted connection between prolonged emotions and physiological health. Regular episodes of stress, anxiety, and anger can greatly affect your cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, and even immune system in a negative way. Our natural instincts will cause us to feel distressed or anxious in potentially dangerous, compromising, or life threatening situations. However, when feelings of opposition occupy a more regular seat in your psyche, the consequences can be life altering.
It is far easier to place blame on anyone or anything other than ourselves. While we might not necessarily be the cause of our own anger or anxiety, we are connected to its source. We’ve all heard or been told that “time is the greatest healer.” But it is not time alone that can heal what ails us. More often than not, negative emotions and feelings are linked to something in our past, whether that that past is yesterday, a year ago, or even all the way back to some point in our childhood. Letting go of the past is one of the most liberating decisions you can make. Letting go of the emotions that are connected to the past is the next step.
Each and every one of us is a masterpiece in progress and we are our own artists. Our palate is endless and the choices are entirely ours. No artist is a perfect artist, and mistakes are completely acceptable. When you decide to paint your life with the rhythm of the universe, to flow freely, fluidly, and always forward, you will feel a deep sense of peace, happiness, and self-love; this is what we all deserve to feel.
